Jackson Clark

Story Posted 1/18/06

Shortly after five-year-old Jackson Clark of Newburgh in southern Indiana was born, he developed a severe viral infection which could have been fatal. Initially the redness in one eye was thought to be a common clogged tear duct. His mother Jenny says, "When it had not cleared up in five weeks, that's when my mother's intuition kicked in. Our pediatrician arranged for an immediate appointment at Riley where Jackson's diagnosis was made."

Today the family makes trips to Riley every few months for checkups, which Jackson thinks is "an adventure." Jenny adds, "There he is surrounded by a loving, welcoming, kid-friendly environment. We will forever be grateful for doctors Daniel Neely and Martin Kleiman who diagnosed our baby before the infection took over his organs."
