NICU Features all Private Rooms

For its youngest patients, Riley Hospital at Clarian North Medical Center offers a state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Riley neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners are on site, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide care for premature infants and newborns in need of specialized treatment.

Located near Labor and Delivery, the NICU, with all private rooms, is designed so that parents can stay and sleep in the room with their child.

"We've designed the NICU to allow parents to be close to their babies to provide the contact and support that so often aids in healing," says Neal Simon, MD, associate professor of pediatrics and neonatology, Indiana University School of Medicine. "Parents are an important member of the child's care team, and our NICU at Clarian North Medical Center facilitates their active participation in the care of their child."

In addition to a state-of-the art NICU, Riley Hospital at Clarian North Medical Center also includes an advanced Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, staffed by pediatric intensive care specialists round-the-clock.

"With a multidisciplinary team of pediatric critical care specialists, pediatric critical care nurses and respiratory therapists, we have both the technology and personnel at Clarian North Medical Center to achieve the best possible outcomes for critically ill children," says G. Kris Bysani, MD, director of PICU, Riley Hospital at Clarian North Medical Center, and associate professor of clinical pediatrics, Indiana University School of Medicine.

From appendicitis and hernias to more complex cases involving newborns in the NICU, Riley's team of pediatric surgeons is available to perform both major and minor surgeries, including minimally invasive procedures, at Clarian North Medical Center.

Pediatric surgeons provide round-the-clock coverage for emergencies. Seven of Riley's surgeons consult with patients and families at the Clarian North Medical Office Building, adjacent to the hospital.

"Our surgeons see patients at our clinic, on site at the medical office building," says Frederick Rescorla, MD, Lafayette F. Page professor of pediatric surgery, Indiana University School of Medicine; director, Section of Pediatric Surgery; and surgeon-in-chief, Riley Hospital.

"We're committed to providing the same quality of surgical care at Clarian North Medical Center that people have come to know and expect," says Dr. Rescorla.
