Riley NICU Expands to Indy's North Side
02/01/2006
As one of the leading neonatal intensive care units (NICU) in the country, Riley Hospital for Children has a vast base of knowledge and experience, benefiting newborn patients every day. This extraordinary children's hospital provides the same level of expertise and caring when it expanded beyond its downtown Indianapolis base to Clarian North Medical Center, the newest hospital in the Clarian Health family.
James Lemons, MD, Hugh McK. Landon professor of pediatrics and director of the section of neonatal-perinatal medicine, Indiana University School of Medicine, says patients and families can expect the same quality of care at Clarian North Medical Center as they do at the downtown campus.
"At Riley, we have a specially trained team of doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and social workers who provide the most advanced care available - the same is true at Clarian North Medical Center," he says.
Clarian North Medical Center has a neonatologist (newborn specialist) in the hospital 24 hours a day. In addition, the neonatologists and perinatologists (doctors who specialize in high-risk pregnancies) work together with all Riley pediatric sub-specialists - such as pediatric cardiologists, surgeons, neurologists, urologists and many other experts in the care of infants and children - to provide needed around-the-clock medical care.
"Clarian North Medical Center provides the same extraordinary care Riley has become known for," says Dr. Lemons."This medical expertise is matched with an exceptional physical environment created with the patient and family's healing in mind."
Babies are treated in a caring, family-centered NICU environment - one that ensures the best care is provided in the warmest, most personal manner.
