LifeLine Helmet State-wide Design Contest: Helicopter crew will wear student's art

06/01/2007

Indianapolis - LifeLine Critical Care Transport is opening an art contest to all Indiana school children to create a new design for their helmets.

LifeLine provides critical air and ground transport to Clarian's Methodist and Riley Hospital for Children. Outside of Indianapolis, LifeLine has bases in Columbus, Kokomo and Terre Haute. LifeLine, now entering its very busy summer season, will make runs all over the state and beyond. The goal is to get critically injured patients to a trauma center during what's called the golden hour.

The contest will give the LifeLine Critical Care Transport crew some great looking helmets, but it's also a chance to talk about child safety. 400,000 head injuries could be prevented, every year-just by wearing a bicycle helmet. LifeLine crew members have a cool job, but they're not too cool to fly without their seatbelts and helmets.

The winning helmet design will be worn by all LifeLine crew members and the winner will be awarded their very own LifeLine helmet with their design!  The contest officially opens on Friday, June 1st and ends Friday, July 13th, 2007. The contest is open to all Indiana children grades 1 through 12.

Here's how to participate:

Visit the LifeLine Web page www.clarian.org/helmet to print the helmet design entry or download to your own personal creative software program.  Using the visual aids from the helmet design entry, create your very best design for our LifeLine crew member's helmets which are worn every day!

Submit your LifeLine helmet design by US Postal Mail to LifeLine Critical Care Transport, Attention: Helmet Design Contest, I-65 at 21st Street P.O. Box 1367 Indianapolis, IN 46206-1367.  The winner will be awarded their LifeLine helmet in September 2007.
