Riley Heart Team blogs about their Middle Eastern medical mission trip

02/19/2009

From February 18 until March 2, the Riley Heart Team will blog about their experiences as they embark on their fourth medical mission trip to the Middle Eastern country of Jordan. Follow their adventure and encourage them with your comments by visiting their new blog at rileymiddleeastmissions.wordpress.com.

The goal of each of the Riley Heart Team’s medical mission trips is to provide life-sustaining heart surgeries and clinical services to children with congenital heart defects from various regions of the Middle East who would not otherwise receive medical care.

The team will also provide mentoring, education and the exchange of professional best practices, ideas and methodologies with health care professional peers in the Middle East.

In addition to providing care, the Riley Heart Team will work to strengthen relationships with physicians, medical support personnel, local medical facilities and philanthropic support organizations in Middle East regions such as Jordan, Iraq, Syria and Egypt- all in the ultimate hope of building a coalition of allied hospitals and establishing telemedicine sites for future collaboration between Middle Eastern health care providers and Riley physicians back in the U.S.
