INDIANAPOLIS – On Friday, April 3, a delegation from the National Council of Alpha Chi, a national college honor society, as well as 15 students and other faculty from across the nation will make a formal book presentation to Riley Hospital for Children staff and patients and donate more than 500 children’s books to the hospital during the society’s national convention in Indianapolis themed 'Literacy 500.' Each child will receive a free book and the remainder will be donated to the hospital library.
Friday's Alpha Chi delegation will be led by Dr. Dennis Organ, Dr. Clark Youngblood, Dr. Ellen Millsaps, Dr. Blake Janutolo and Lara Noah, executive director, president, vice president, secretary, and director of operations, respectively.

| WHY: | With the convention theme 'Literacy 500,' Alpha Chi has challenged its more than 300 chapters nationally to give books to Riley Hospital as part of its first ever national service project, an action that puts into practice their motto of "making scholarship effective for good." |
Alpha Chi delegates meeting in Indianapolis April 2-4 at the Hyatt Regency will also hear from children's author and poet David L. Harrison, winner of the Christopher Medal and a literacy activist, at the opening banquet Thursday evening. Over 200 presentations in various majors will be offered to more than 400 attending Alpha Chi members. In addition, members will also be able to share their local literacy efforts in workshops and poster sessions.
