04/24/2009

Jeffrey L. Sperring, MD

This summer, Dr. Jeff Sperring will assume the position of CMO at Riley Hospital, where he currently serves as the associate CMO and director of the Hospitalist Program.

As CMO, Dr. Sperring will be a core member of Riley's executive team, whose goal is to ensure Riley Hospital is providing the best possible care to the patients it serves. Dr. Sperring will be a tireless advocate for medical staff and focus on operations and risk management; quality of care; length of stay; clinical efficiency and quality; and patient safety, as well as play an important part in the strategic planning process by identifying areas for growth so Riley Hospital continues to be ranked among the nation's top children's hospitals. In addition, Dr. Sperring will be instrumental in developing partnerships with hospitals as Riley Hospital expands its presence across the state of Indiana.

Dr. Sperring is a pediatric hospitalist and serves as the director of the Riley Pediatric Hospitalist Program. He has been with Clarian Health since August 2002, when he was appointed director of the Pediatric Hospitalist Program for Methodist's Children's Pavilion. He led the expansion of the program to Clarian North in 2005, Clarian West in January 2007, and Riley Hospital in July 2007. In October 2007, Dr. Sperring was appointed associate chief medical officer by Dr. Ora H. Pescovitz.

Prior to joining Clarian, Dr. Sperring was a community pediatrician for four years, including three years as Pediatric Department Head at the Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms and one year of practice in New Castle, Ind. He received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and completed his pediatric residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego.
