Winged Warrior Event Benefits Riley Hospital for Children, Indiana University Cheer Guild

Indianapolis - Automobile enthusiasts can see some top-of-the-line car performances while helping children at this weekend's Winged Warrior Performance Challenge & Car Show.

The Winged Warrior Performance Challenge & Car Show is an automotive performance shootout, car show and spectator event all in one, which benefits the kids at Riley through the Cheer Guild of Riley Hospital for Children and Indiana University.

Automotive enthusiasts will be able to participate in activities that are rarely available to non-professional drivers. Local enthusiasts will be able to test all aspects of their personal supped-up automotive performance vehicles in the presence of professionals.

The Performance Challenge is organized into two teams - Team Import vs. Team USA - and all competitors will participate in a series of auto-x and drag races. In addition to the Performance Challenge, attendees can enjoy a car show featuring everything from classic cars and trucks to motorcycles and ATV's. There will also be several auto-related vendors and plenty of food, drinks and fun.

The Winged Warrior Performance Challenge & Car Show was initiated by Dr. Kevin Butterfield, a local chiropractor, in 2002 as a small toy donation event benefiting Riley Hospital for Children. Over the years, this event has grown to include more than 200 attendees and raises money and collects new toy donations for the Cheer Guild.

The Cheer Guild provides volunteer services and financial assistance to Riley and Indiana University hospitals. Volunteers distribute toys, games, stuffed animals, quilts, pillows, clothing, meal tickets and other items to the patients and their families.
