Community Groups Partner to Provide Free Child Car Seats to Families Devastated by Flooding
06/21/2008
Indianapolis - Several community groups across Central Indiana are teaming up to provide free child car seats to families devastated by severe flooding in Bartholomew, Morgan and Johnson Counties. The effort is being led by Safe Kids Indiana and the Automotive Safety Program, programs of Riley Hospital for Children and the IU School of Medicine, the Marion County Traffic Safety Partnership and AAA Hoosier Motor Club.
"Several agencies in the flooded counties have been contacted by families in need of replacement child safety seats and in an effort to assist, we will be distributing free child car seats in three of the counties hardest hit by the storms," said Autumn McNichols, Safe Kids Indiana state coordinator. "Their personal possessions were either severely water damaged or lost entirely, so it was important that we aid these families and contribute to the relief efforts."
The free child seat safety clinics will be held in the following locations:
June 23 - Morgan County
Walmart/Home Bank, 410 Grand Valley Road, Martinsville
11 am - 2 pm
June 30 - Johnson County
Old National Bank, 900 S. State Road 135, Greenwood
11 am - 2 pm
July 2 - Bartholomew County
Dorel Juvenile Group, 2525 State Street, Columbus
11 am - 2 pm
