Details: Dr. Fitzgerald is one of the pioneers of pediatric endoscopy (procedure using a tiny video camera to look inside the digestive track) and was the founding director of pediatric gastroenterology at Riley Hospital for Children in 1969, a post he held until 2005. He has written extensively on disorders affecting the function of abdominal organs, and on infant and pediatric nutrition. His research interests include chronic liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and nutrition support via infusion, injection or implantation.
