Pediatric Diabetes

As part of the only comprehensive Pediatric Diabetes Program in the state and the largest diabetes care center in the region, Riley's Diabetes Specialists treat more than 1,800 children with both Type 1 and 2 diabetes each year.

Providing outpatient services for children and adolescents with diabetes, The Outpatient Diabetes Clinic sees patients for an evaluation of their metabolic control. At each visit, the child is seen by the physician, nurse practitioner and, frequently, by a dietitian and social worker.

• Insulin Pump Program: Riley was among the first hospitals in the country to introduce insulin pump therapy for young children. Of nearly 300 children on insulin pumps, approximately 90 are less than 10 years of age.
