Pediatric Gastroenterology
Riley's Pediatric Gastroenterology program offers evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for children with illnesses of the digestive tract, liver and pancreas. Riley's pediatric team has long been a leader in gastroenterology, pioneering innovative treatment and care in pediatric endoscopy and allergic esophagitis. More than 2,000 endoscopies are performed each year at Riley.
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD): The staff members at Riley have more than 30 years experience in the diagnosis and management of the inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn disease and ulcerative colitis) in children and adolescents. Riley's Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program includes pediatric gastroenterologists, endoscopists, pediatric surgeons, pediatric radiologists and pediatric dietitians.
- Liver Disease Program: The Liver Disease Program provides expert diagnosis and management of children with a variety of liver diseases. Rapid and efficient evaluation of infants with jaundice can be accomplished within this program. Riley physicians also have a special interest in metabolic liver disease and work closely with the Division of Metabolism. A variety of seminars and educational materials are offered for nurses, physicians-in-training and staff physicians.
- GI Motility Laboratory: As pioneers in the performance of esophageal manometry in 1980, Riley's Pediatric GI Motility Laboratory - the only such lab in Indiana - began performing anorectal manometry in 1993. The lab also offers stomach, small intestine and colonic motility studies.
