Clarian North has board-certified, Indiana University School of Medicine faculty physicians in the hospital 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including pediatric surgeons, neonatologists, critical care intensivists and emergency room physicians.
Riley surgeons have contributed to the field of children's surgery on a national and international basis. Special areas
of expertise have centered on the areas of neonatal surgery; pediatric gastrointestinal tract surgery; repair of diaphragmatic hernia; extracorporeal membrane oxygenation; chest wall defects (Nuss procedure); pediatric trauma; pediatric surgical oncology; and hepato-biliary and pancreatic surgery. Riley surgeons were the first in Indiana hospital to regularly perform minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopic and thoracoscopic) in infants and children. In addition, Riley Hospital was the first in the state to use the daVinci Surgical Robotic System for non-invasive and minimally invasive surgeries in infants. Riley surgeons have the state's most extensive experience in pediatric cancer surgery.
